Hydrogen procurement begins
Queensland company Gold Hydrogen officially commenced drilling for natural hydrogen on southern Yorke Peninsula on Tuesday, October 11. The company is seeking to prove a large natural hydrogen field exists in the area, after geologists discovered nearly 100-year-old records from oil and gas drilling tests in the area.

Opposition spokesperson Nicola Centofanti said Primary Industries Minister Clare Scriven had left the industry in the dark over reforms which could have huge impacts on fishers’ livelihoods.
New fees could force YP fishers to bail out
Michelle Daw. Yorke Peninsula commercial fishers are furious, as they say a new licence structure will increase their fees by more than 400 per cent and could force them out of business.
Extra rates to be spent on roads
Patrick Goldsmith. Yorke Peninsula Council will spend the $405,114 in extra rates revenue garnered from primary producers, on road-related efficiency improvement. YPC rates increased by eight per cent this year, with an extra three per cent hit taken by primary producers.
BWC to push for heritage listing
Port Broughton’s ornately decorated hotel and its stately Norfolk Island pines, the Alford Institute Hall, churches at Bute and a farmhouse at Mundoora are among 46 sites which could be heritage listed by Barunga West Council ... Council has proposed new planning rules to protect the area’s local heritage, which would make it the first council to utilise South Australia’s code amendment process for this purpose.
Hotly contested Copper Coast Cup
More than 500 cyclists competed in the Copper Coast Cycling Cup on Saturday and Sunday, October 7-8. Australian Cycling Team won the Elite Men category while Cervelo Ziptrak triumphed in the Elite Women and Villawood in the Category 1 Men.
