Zombie trees
Scott O’Keeffe. Around 15 years ago, people living in the Maleny area of Southeast Queensland noticed a decline in the health of some large mature bunya pines (Araucaria bidwillii). The crowns of the trees began turning brown, quickly followed by foliage well below the crown. Within a short time, all foliage would be shed, branches cast, and the affected tree would be dead ... Araucarian Dieback (AD) is on the move.
Nimbin artists display diversity in Gunnedah

The Nimbin Diversity exhibition, held at the invitation of the Gunnedah Bicentennial Regional Gallery, has been a new and interesting experience for both the Nimbin Artists Gallery and many of our local artists. Gunnedah could be considered to have many different values to our local region – a hot dry climate, large monoculture agriculture and a vast coal mining industry across the scenic Liverpool Plains.
Clear weather provides enjoyable treks
Peter Moyle. What a great month – at last consistent clear weather on our scheduled walks. We revisited the secluded and difficult to access 38/38 Chasm, a wonderland of ferns, waterfalls ... Our annual pilgrimage to The Gibraltar Ranges National Park finished the month.
Food Co-Op marks 10 years

Ten years ago, the Nimbin community came together to ensure the continued growth of an organic, sustainable food culture ... with the financial support of the community and the hard work of a legion of volunteers, despite some tough times getting things up and running, the Nimbin Organic Food Co-op has grown to supply the local need and has become a thriving business.
Entheogenic storytelling
Michael Balderstone. The mushroom talks have been the most popular of all at the last few MardiGrass weekends, and so a Psilocybin Symposium in Nimbin Hall is planned for 7th December. People are invited to share their own entheogenic experiences as well. My first mushroom trip was truly mind-blowing. I think it helped that I had no idea what I was doing!

Nimbin blend scores top coffee gong
Denise and Owen Whitney, owners of Mountain Top Coffee, travelled to Sydney with manager and roaster Bernard Rooney ... to receive a champion trophy for the Nimbin Blend line of roasted coffee at the Sydney Royal Fine Foods Festival. This is the second champion trophy they have received, the earlier being the Microlot in 2021.
