Allora Homestead residents have been busy over winter making blankets and beanies for the Warwick Hospital. A wonderful effort by Judy, Kay, Laisa, Rae, Jess who have made these items with love and care for the new born babies.
Wattles Warriors primed for Grand Final success
Glyn Rees. The excitement is building around Allora, Clifton and the Central Downs as rugby league devotees prepare for this Sunday’s pilgrimage to Toowoomba’s Clive Berghoffer Stadium to support the Wattles Warriors in their bid for 2022 Toowoomba Rugby League premiership glory.
Mixed results from Talgai Goldfield
Gold drilling efforts earlier in the year at the Talgai Goldfield have produced some promising signs of future potential, but not all that was hoped for. The inaugural drilling campaign was undertaken by Canadian company Queensland Gold Hills Corporation at the Big Hill property in the historic Talgai Goldfield.
Warwick Hospital now powered by the sun
Warwick is just one of ten health care facilities across the Darling Downs to harness the power of the sun, to ensure a more sustainable future. Other regional health care facilities at Stanthorpe, Texas, Inglewood, Taroom, Jandowae, Baillie Henderson, Cherbourg, Miles and Tara are now also tapping into this renewable energy ... “In total, there are nearly 2500 panels across our facilities, which is around 1330 kW.”
New book – The Men of the 2/26 Battalion
A book by two authors, one of them an Allora local, delves into the war years of the brave men of the 2/26 Battalion. Read through the personal interviews, family stories and archive research of the military history and personal history of the men compiled by two dedicated women, daughters of two of the soldiers - Norm Newport and Bill Anderson - who were mates in the 2/26 Battalion.

What a triumph for Allora!
We know the Melbourne Cup is visiting Allora on Wednesday 14th September but what we didn’t know is the Melbourne Cup will be here for the whole day - not just an hour or so. This is wonderful news as everyone will get a chance to see and maybe have a photo taken with the Cup ... Touring with the Cup will be well-known Champion Jockey John Letts who rode two winners in the Melbourne Cup.
Allora P-10 staff have fun celebrating Book Week
Most of the staff are dressed as crayons to represent the book “The Day The Crayons Quit” by Drew Daywalt. After having a giggle at their teachers the P-10 students enjoyed the day by dressing as their favourite book character.
