Service recognised with medals and clasps

Chris Oldfield. A medal reflecting 60 years of incredible service has been awarded to our distinguished CFS member and author, Rex Hall. Since the launch of his successful book, Forty Flaming Years, in 2007, Mr Hall has penned three more. Mr Hall, one of Naracoorte’s favourite icons, was also a major force behind the town’s SA Volunteer Fire Fighters Museum.

Ag Speak – Rethinking the shearing team

A new approach to managing shearing teams is paying dividends in the Mid North of the state and helping address the skills shortage which is being felt by the entire livestock industry. When Sarah-Jane Abley’s shearing team steps onto the boards of shearing sheds around South Australia, out goes any hierarchy and instead the team just gets to work.

Hushed crowd listens

Chris Oldfield. A question and answer forum will be held in the Naracoorte Town Hall ... Candidates in the upcoming council election will be available to answer questions from the audience... Another step for rare earths

Chris Oldfield. A Koppamurra Landholder Reference Group (KLRG) has been formed by Australian Rare Earths as it takes another step towards developing a mining lease application ... The aim of the landholder reference group is to share information and seek feedback on the Koppamurra project.

Mullinger Park

Brett Shepherd. After two years off from showing we went to Adelaide Royal this year with no expectations - just wanting to compare our sheep with fellow breeders and catch up after such a long enforced break. So it was with great excitement and pride when our Poll Dorset ram 21-616 (sired by our own Mullinger Park 17-348) was judged the Champion ram.

The axing of a one-hour public question and answer segment at a Meet the Candidates forum in the Town Hall is not aimed at gagging or silencing anyone, according to Naracoorte Lucindale Council CEO Trevor Smart ... Traditionally, a Meet the Candidates forum has been held before council elections, enabling all candidates seeking election to give a five-minute presentation, starting with those seeking to be mayor.

A stand for common sense

Chris Oldfield. Nationally acclaimed organic farmer, Peter “Huck” Shepherd has confirmed he is standing to be part of the next Naracoorte Lucindale Council. In a media statement, the Kybybolite farmer said he believed the council needed some critical thinkers “who can put some common sense back into the council”.
