SA beef a winner at 2022 World Steak Challenge
Teys. South Australian produced beef, 36° South, has been named top in its class at the recent 2022 World Steak Challenge in Dublin, Ireland. Teys Australia entered two of its premium brands – 36° South and Teys Certified Angus – in the prestigious meat competition that showcases product quality, breed credentials and processing standards on an international stage.
Patrick Ross elected mayor
Chris Oldfield. Patrick Ross has stormed to victory as Naracoorte Lucindale Council’s provisionally elected new mayor and says “thank you” to all residents and ratepayers of the district. The overwhelming result in favour of Mr Ross as a result of the November 10 council election saw him easily surpass the 1761 vote quota with 2111 votes – or 60 per cent of the votes cast.
McBride backs more research for medicinal cannabis
Chris Oldfield. In a bid to help control many conditions including juvenile epilepsy, endometriosis and chronic pain, the use and further research of medicinal cannabis has been backed by the State Member for MacKillop, Nick McBride. Mr McBride gained permission from Lucindale’s much loved and highly respected resident Meredith Pomery to help explain in State Parliament the important benefits of medicinal cannabis.
Emotional campaign launched on farm safety
On 16 October, SA Power Networks launched an emotional farm safety campaign featuring Bradley Richardson, a victim of a terrible electric shock incident. Bradley’s story is a reminder of the horrific consequences of electric shock and the importance of safety around powerlines. Bradley is incredibly lucky to be alive, but the cost was the loss of both of his legs, 35 per cent burns to his body, organ damage, and about 25 major operations.
Feds slash country funding programs

Member for Barker Tony Pasin has slammed the Albanese Government for axing the Building Better Regions funding program for country people and their organisations ... “Hundreds of organisations across the country, including more than 30 in Barker, have spent countless hours and expended significant sums preparing applications for round six of the Building Better Regions Fund”: Member for Barker Tony Pasin.
Voting paper glitches
Chris Oldfield. Lucindale's Pauline and Ivan Hocking were eager to fill in their ballot papers as soon as they arrived on October 20, and post them back to Adelaide ... Mr and Mrs Hocking read their instructions and went through the various sheets of paper with pens in hand. But Mrs Hocking’s voting slip for a mayoral candidate was missing.
Earl calls for sustainable organic growth
Chris Oldfield. Naracoorte Lucindale Council candidate Julie Earl is eager to save the North Parklands and allow the town to grow “sustainably and organically”, using 160-170 vacant blocks on the market. She was asked her first question by Jennifer Grundy if she thought there was a limit on development and population growth during the next four years.
