Firewood collection policy motion fails to fire
A motion that Lockhart Shire Council rescind its policy on the collection of firewood from Council road reserves and dead standing trees failed when put to the Council’s June meeting ... "In addition to the personal safety aspect, the removal of such trees and wood debris would reduce the amount of fuel for bushfires" ... "Are we as a community going to make it harder for these people to heat their homes in winter?"

Lizards fight back for home-town win
The Narrandera Lizards scored a 24-18 win over the Ivanhoe Roosters in a Proten Cup grand final rematch at the Narrandera Sportsground on Saturday. The Roosters got out to a 12-0 lead but the Lizards retaliated through Geoff Johnson and skipper Campbell Lyons to level the game at 12-all.
Racing Club steps up for industry
Narrandera Race Club hosted an unexpected meeting on Sunday after an Albury meet was cancelled due to wet weather. The NRC received the call last week late Wednesday from Racing NSW to ask if they could host the meet instead.
Filming to start in Narrandera
Following on from films shot in the area over the last several years, Backyard Ashes, Stakes, The Merger and the short Inside Water, another production is once again making its way to country NSW, this time in Narrandera. The feature film, "When The House Is Empty" directed by Timothy Hills, is being shot in Sydney and Brisbane as well as the Narrandera area.

The streets of Ganmain came alive for the weekend for the second ever Ganmain Arts Festival. The festival featured art in different forms such as sculpting, painting, photography and even an ecofabric creator.
Grong Grong School of Arts fire circle session a blazing success
The Grong Grong School of Arts hosted a successful fire circle session at the Royal Hotel over the weekend ...
