Crackdown on rural crime to help farmers

Preventing rural crime against farmers and rural industries is one of our priorities for Crime Stoppers and the NSW Police Force. Crime Stoppers has invested over $250,000 in a range of marketing material to assist farmers, by helping to encourage reporting but also to prevent crimes ... When a crime is reported, particularly promptly, there is not just a greater chance of catching the perpetrators, but it increases the chance of recovering the stolen goods for our farmers.

Reflecting on our Rod Run history

Narrandera's Easter Rod Run actually originated in a modest kitchen of Narrandera milkman Mal Christie. In Graham Smith’s fourth edition of his full colour glossy magazine The Australian Hot Rodder, Christie told Smith that it all began on Boxing Day 1970 when Victorian drag racer and show judge John English stopped over in Narrandera with his family on their way to Queensland.

Tin Shed Rattler musician calls it a day after 38 years

One of the best banjo players in the Riverina has played his last bush dance after retiring from the much-loved Tin Shed Rattlers after 38 years. Ian Charles has been part of the Downside Hall furniture since he first joined the Tin Shed Rattlers as their tenor banjo player in 1986.
