New pump track among busy works program for Council

Narrandera Shire Council’s brand new pump track in Marie Bashir Park is now open and ready for riders of all ages and skill levels. The pump track features smooth, flowing berms and rollers, varied terrain for beginners to advanced riders, a bike-friendly surface that’s easy on tyres as well as nearby parking and amenities.

Council delegate pushes worth of keeping eye on highway progress

Narrandera Shire Council delegate Cr Peter Dawson believes that the council must continue its representation on the Newell Highway Taskforce or the northern end of the highway will continue to be upgraded and very little done at the southern end. However he said it was evident that most of the works along the Newell Highway were being carried out in the northern section and very little in the Southern.

Rod Run exceeds all expectations

Competition was tough among the hundreds of rodders at this year’s Rod Run, with a record number of entrants and over 500 cars at Sunday’s Show and Shine. The competition was made up of old and new entrants with cars of all makes, models and colours competing  for five prize categories - Top Rod, Top Kruiser, Top Ride, Young Rodder and Top Kustom.

Message to all entrants, locals and visitors who have ventured to Narrandera this year for the 39th Narrandera Rod Run

Steve Alldrick. We are excited to be back for another wonderful Easter, with a good number of entrants and we expect similar numbers around the Narrandera Sportsground Oval as there were for last year's Easter Sunday Show 'n Shine which had 500 cars in attendance ... The usual Show and Shine will take place on Easter Sunday again at the Narrandera Sportsground like last year...

Crackdown on rural crime to help farmers

Preventing rural crime against farmers and rural industries is one of our priorities for Crime Stoppers and the NSW Police Force. Crime Stoppers has invested over $250,000 in a range of marketing material to assist farmers, by helping to encourage reporting but also to prevent crimes ... When a crime is reported, particularly promptly, there is not just a greater chance of catching the perpetrators, but it increases the chance of recovering the stolen goods for our farmers.

Reflecting on our Rod Run history

Narrandera's Easter Rod Run actually originated in a modest kitchen of Narrandera milkman Mal Christie. In Graham Smith’s fourth edition of his full colour glossy magazine The Australian Hot Rodder, Christie told Smith that it all began on Boxing Day 1970 when Victorian drag racer and show judge John English stopped over in Narrandera with his family on their way to Queensland.
