Denmark back in the big time

Megan Greaves. Denmark Cricket Club will return to the Albany and Districts Cricket Association A grade competition in the 2025-2026 season – the first time since its 2019-2020 season ... With strong leadership from captains Campbell Robertson and Damian Schwarzbach, young players combining with senior players offering a mature approach to the game, the club believes it a good time to re-enter the A grade competition.

Serena Kirby. The eagerly-awaited community piano has arrived in Denmark. The pre-loved piano was donated to the Denmark community earlier this year as part of the ABC's nationwide Pop-Up Piano Project.

Local research homing in on the year round truffle

Serena Kirby. Research progress, technology advancements and opportunities to support a new truffle species which can be harvested in winter, spring and summer seasons was outlined last week. Academics, farmers, industry partners and representatives converged on the McHenry farm at Mt Lindesay recently to hear about these advancements in truffle cultivation.

Sue a bronze Aussie at 69

Serena Kirby. Sue Bussell became Denmark Surf Life Saving Club's oldest person to achieve a bronze medallion when she completed her course this year.

Eyes down and looking as volunteers get seeds sorted

Serena Kirby. It was eyes down and tweezers poised at a recent seed sorting session. The Wilson Inlet Catchment Committee-organised activity was part of the committee's Cockies for Cockies program that's working to re-establish and protect habitats and food sources for three threatened black cockatoo species: Carnaby's, Baudin and red-tailed black cockatoos.

Inlet conditions right on the mark for opening

The Wilson Inlet sand bar was breached yesterday with the AHD of 1m exceeded last week when low-lying areas around the inlet began to flood. Despite the cold weather and rain, fishers were out in force at Prawn Rock Channel at the weekend as schools gathered in the changing water conditions and increased food availability.
