We all cheered as the Australian men’s pursuit team cycled to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics ... What many of us didn’t realise is that the team is coached by Tim Decker, brother and brother-in-law to Donald’s Carolyn and Charles Wheeler.

These dedicated individuals are often the backbone of our community, working tirelessly to raise funds for vital initiatives that make a real difference in our town.
Josie’s more than “Just A Sheila”
Sculptor/artist Josie Dillon Lowerson is a former local who grew up on the farm at Narraport and attended school in both Wycheproof and Birchip. She is currently preparing a major exhibition of her artworks which have been transported 3,000 km from her studio on the Atherton Tablelands in far north Queensland, to Fortyfivedownstairs Gallery in Flinders Lane, Melbourne.
Bulls and Demons share hockey honours
In the final match of hockey in the home-and-away season for both Birchip-Watchem and Wycheproof-Narraport, the Demons dominated in the senior games, while the Bulls took home the honours in the juniors. Two minkey games were played on Saturday with both clubs fielding enough for two full teams, albeit, from a younger cohort.
High rise homes in Buloke
The secret is now out! And the residents have started to move into their high-rise apartments. Some time ago, a "Buloke Times" photographer spotted an impressive array of colourful birdhouses at the Donald Buloke Shire Council office, each getting a fresh coat of weather protection. The photographer was politely asked to keep a lid on the scoop, as further consultation with land management stakeholders was under way.
God smiles on Demons’ last hurrah
In their last ever home game as the storied Wycheproof-Narraport Football Club, the bottom rung Demons fittingly torched their long term arch rivals, top of the table Birchip-Watchem. In front of a large returning group of supporters, who ventured from far and wide to witness the end of an incredible football club, Wycheproof-Narraport, with a fiercer desire for the ball, ran out winners by 12 points wildly exciting the home crowd parked around the “Green Mill”.
Driven to success
The opening of the “Driven” exhibition on Saturday ... at the Charlton Courthouse Gallery was a highlight on the cultural calendar for the artists, gallery committee, and many in attendance. Featuring the textiles and paintings of Kate Giakimis, ceramics by Genevieve Navarre, metal sculptures by Joel Thiesz and Joe Durie, and paintings by Chris Wyatt, the mix of materials used and the quality of the work, proved a hit with visitors.
