Dawn service begins ANZAC Day
Quill. It was foggy, and more than chilly, at 6.30 a.m. at Donald’s Memorial Park, but that did not deter more than a hundred residents from attending the ANZAC Day Service at that time. Welcoming all present, Donald RSL sub-branch president, Carmel Dugan, invited Fr. Gerry Prunty to open proceedings with a prayer.

The message was clear as farmers from around the Charlton district greeted representatives from the Transmission Company Victoria (TCV) with farm machinery bearing signs of dissatisfaction, as last Wednesday’s meeting about the Victoria to NSW Interconnector West (VNI West) at the Charlton Shire Hall opened to the public.

Jenny Pollard. A sparkling array of white tulle, classic dresses, debonair partners and two adorable attendants were the highlights of the 2024 Charlton Deb Ball held last Friday night as nine couples were formally presented against a striking Art Deco-inspired setting at the Charlton Hall.
Djaara Cup race day at Charlton
Peter Hibberd. The Charlton Harness Racing Club in conjunction with the Djaara people ran its annual race day at Charlton on Wednesday. Being the traditional owners of Country across central Victoria, the land on which the harness racing training centre is based was granted to the Charlton Club in 2012. Every year since, the Club has a special day to celebrate this important event.
