Giant scrabble showdown
Castlemaine is set to become the Scrabble capital of the world, thanks to the Giant Scrabble Battle event which took place during the Castlemaine Fringe Festival. This year marked the 30th year of the festival, and the Scrabble Battle is quickly becoming one of the most popular events on the bill.
Kangaroo art project
Here’s a heads-up for an imaginative art installation being presented by Maldon Inc. Twelve 1.5 metre high kangaroos, along with some joeys, will be showcased in shop windows during the 2023 Maldon In Winter Festival, which will be running from 23 June to 9 July.

Ambulance Victoria (AV) is looking for more recruits to join the Maldon Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Maldon’s CERT is made up of members who provide support to the Maldon township 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
First responder training
Maldon and Harcourt Fire Brigade members, Maldon Community Response Team (CERT) volunteers and Ambulance Victoria paramedics came together last Friday night at the Maldon Fire Station for a two-and-a-half-hour training session. The CFA volunteers were instructed in CPR and in manual lifting techniques for moving patients safely.

A garden for everyone
The Newstead Community Garden began in 2009 Â and has evolved into a peaceful and joyful venture for keen and eager gardeners ... The garden produces fruit and vegetables, which are used by the members, and the excess is dried, used for chutneys, fed to the chooks and/or donated to community groups.
