Lightnings to soar over Evans Head

The skies above Evans Head will be busier this week because of Royal Australian Air Force training.

The planned F-35A Lightning II training activities will be seen and heard over Evans Head air weapons range on May 10–21.

Jets set: Royal Australian Air Force training will see planes in the sky this month.

Number Two Operational Conversion Unit will conduct training from May 10-14 with the second week of flying happening if needed.

For safety reasons, the Southern Defence Practice Area (overwater) will be closed from 10am–5pm during the weeks of F-35A operations.

Defence personnel will display red flags whenever live firing activities are conducted and carry out patrols to ensure people don’t stray into the area.
