Migrant women in business expo

Come down to the Maldon Progress Hall this Saturday, 9 July, to enjoy and explore the first expo by Migrant Women in Business, with handmade food and products made by migrant and refugee women ... Migrant Women in Business (MWiB) is a Maldon business that supports a nationwide network of connection and collaboration amongst 80 plus women from migrant and refugee backgrounds.

Rehabilitating Carmans Tunnel

In November 2019 Worksafe conducted an audit of Carmans Tunnel which ultimately resulted in the closure of the mine that had been once been a tourist destination ... Recently a small group of Maldon residents, interested in rehabilitating the tunnel, met with DELWP Program Manager Land and Built Environment Gavin Parkes and Program Officer Damian Sharrock, who confirmed that DELWP had commissioned the independent report.

New appointments for State MPs

Bendigo West MP Maree Edwards has been nominated to take on the role of Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly. She has been representing her electorate since 2010 and has been in the Deputy Speaker’s job for the past five years.

Cactus control field trip

Lee Mead. A group of 15 tertiary students from Monash University came to the Tarrangower Cactus Control Group field day yesterday, to help us in the war on Wheel Cactus. The event was held in the Maldon Historic Reserve, at the back of the Mount, where they thoroughly enjoyed the natural landscapes and local views.

Goldfields Gothic this weekend

Community Generation

Maldon residents Lauren Adele Stevens and her Dad, Ian Stevens, have once again headed off to Cambodia to continue working at Lauren’s Phnom Penh office with her local Cambodian team ... Alongside our WASH projects, Community Generation will commence a new project delivery of up-skilling and training local Khmer peoples with life-changing plumbing and maintenance skills delivered by fully qualified Australian plumbers,” Lauren said.

Winning treble

Baringhup’s McKnight Racing had an amazing day at Donald Racing Club last week. They had their first-ever ‘Winning Treble’. This is quite a feat for a stable that has only around 12 to 15 horses in work at a time!
