Remembrance Day for young and old

The annual Remembrance Day service hosted by Maldon RSL at the Cenotaph ... attracted numerous attendees, including grade five and six students from Maldon Primary School ... Will Govier from Maldon Primary School, here with grandmother Jenni McKenzie, swept and cleaned the grave and headstone of his great-grandfather before proudly placing a flag.

Council election results declared

Results for the 2024 local government election were declared by the election manger for Mount Alexander Shire Kelvin Tory ... at the Council Chamber in Castlemaine. A small gathering of supporters and constituents joined key council officers, as each of the successful candidates gave a short speech.

Just walkin’ the dog

Maldon Golf Club wants the dog-owners of Maldon to know that they can enjoy the lush grassy golf course with their furry friend if they take out a ‘recreational membership.’ The scheme has been in place for about five years after the club realised that many options for off-leash pooch play were being removed in the region.

New home for historic trains

The Victorian Goldfields Railway (VGR) has welcomed a new depot in Castlemaine for the historic trains that run between Castlemaine and Maldon … The many benefits of the new depot buildings include greater space and more comfortable indoor environs for VGR volunteer workers to maintain locomotives and prepare them for service.

Rare glimpse into a wonderland

Shades of Gray is a magical, metal garden wonderland that is only open for a few weeks each year ... at the intersection of Farnsworth and Brown Streets in Castlemaine … a detailed and quirky ‘Chook House’ filled to the rafters (literally) with metal chickens. “This will break the internet!” he laughed, posing beside Romeo the rooster.
