Court finds gunman not guilty
The man charged with the murder of Lucindale police officer Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig was recently found not guilty due to mental incompetence and will not face a criminal trial. The SA Supreme Court made the ruling after a joint request from both the prosecution and the defence.
Memorial for Sgt Doig
After pumping $2000 into a Police Legacy Memorial, cattle producer Richard Ogilvie recently returned to Lucindale for the unveiling of a memorial for his friend, the late Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig PEM LEM ... The memorial is a plaque on a stand and a life-sized silhouette of Sgt Doig, based on a photo taken by his mother, Faye.
Memorial cricket match for Jason
Lucindale hosted a Twenty20 cricket match at the Cricket Club in honour of police officer, Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig on November 17. Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig was killed in the line of duty at Senior, outside Bordertown last year. According to SAPOL, the club hosted the event, beginning with a brief ceremony acknowledging Jason's service, sacrifice and his deep connection to the Lucindale community.
Emotional, but proud
It was an emotional but proud day for the parents of late Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig, the Lucindale police officer killed in the line of duty last year. The late Brevet Sergeant Doig’s mother, Faye Edwards, and her husband Rob were part of the Police Legacy National Wall-to-Wall: Ride for Remembrance memorial service in Lucindale last week.
Stimson pleads “not guilty”
A 26 year-old man from near Bordertown has pleaded “not guilty” to the murder of Lucindale police officer Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig. Brevet Sergeant Doig was responding to a call at Senior, around 20 kms north of Bordertown, when he was shot and killed.
Lucindale Station reopens 3 hours a week
For three hours per week, on Monday afternoons, the Lucindale community will have access to "partial front station services" at their local police station. Two months ago on November 16, Lucindale’s police officer Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig attended a call out to a property at Senior, north of Bordertown 120 kms away, and never returned home.
United by grief
United by grief, leaders of 26 community groups gathered last Monday at the Lucindale Police Station. Their highly respected police officer Brevet Sgt Jason Doig had gone to a job 120 kms away, and never returned.
Fatal shooting
Lucindale police officer Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig, who was killed during a shooting incident at Senior, has been described as a “perfect small town country copper” ... all Sgt Doig ever wanted from his role in the community was for everybody to get home safely.
