Remote voting issues for Referendum – Message from Hon. Mark Coulton, Member for Parkes

Residents from the Ivanhoe area have contacted my office recently to advise that they weren't made aware of a Remote Voter Services team visiting the town ahead of the 2023 Referendum on a Voice to Parliament. I reached out to the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) as I believe there's an assumption that people Australia-wide receive all of their information online.

Pre 1932 vintage car visit to White Cliffs

The Vintage Drivers Club of Victoria organised a tour through parts of Western NSW with a stay of a couple of days in White Cliffs. The Club had liaised with the White Cliffs Historic Vehicle Club and met for an evening meal at the Pub.

The recycled clothing store complements another CatholicCare Wilcannia-Forbes Cooee social enterprise. Cooee Cuts is an affordable hair salon that operates one week every month ...

Recently, two mature peppercorn trees in White Cliffs were removed to make way for water pipes. Shirley Evans (nee Riley), who now lives in Wilcannia, was born under one of those trees in 1937. She says, 'When I was an adult I went back to that tree a few times with Mum ... I was really disappointed to think that they'd cut that tree down.'

Assistant Minister for Indigenous Health visits Wilcannia

Last Friday Senator Malarndirri McCarthy made a not well publicised visit to Wilcannia. Word soon went round town and a number of locals were able to tell her of their health and other concerns. The Senator toured the hospital where she met some staff, the new Maari Ma health building, and met with representatives of the Wilcannia Local Aboriginal Land Council.

Notes from Central Darling Shire Council Meeting, 26 July 2023

The Shires Administrator Bob Stewart reported on a meeting he had with the NSW Minister for Local Government, Hon. Ron Hoenig and the Minister for Water, the Hon. Rose Jackson. Bob reported that the Minister is keen to bring the Shire out of Administration however he also understands the challenges faced by Council in a number of areas, including day-today operations and financial sustainability.
