Region’s historic water significance in the spotlight
Coliban Water recently hosted representatives from Heritage Victoria as part of a bid to have the Victorian Goldfields listed on the World Heritage List. Adam Crameri, General Manager Water and Climate Strategy at Coliban Water, highlighted the significance of the region, noting that its inclusion would make it the 21st site in Australia to achieve this status.
Local family wins rotary’s best wildlife art prize!
Local magpie family, known as Hilary, Martin and Princess have come first in the wildlife section of the Camberwell Rotary Art Show. Captured in gouache (watercolour) on paper, local artist Robyn Riley has propelled the trio to stardom.

High honour bestowed on local innovator

Self-described ‘Entrepreneur and Initiator,’ Luz Restrepo, has been awarded Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) as part of the King’s Birthday 2024 Honours List for her service to the multicultural community of Victoria ... Luz was the founder of Sisterworks and co-founder of Migrant Women in Business, both social enterprises designed to support women with migrant, asylum seeker or refugee backgrounds.

Kerry Cain. The Newstead Racecourse Recreation Reserve covers approximately 80 acres and is owned by the State Government. The NRRR has a volunteer committee that manages, maintains, and enhances the land ... The NRRR now has a park section used as a camping area.
Group exhibition and artist talks
The group exhibition celebrating the creativity of Central Victorian artists at the Central Goldfields Art Gallery continues ... Jackie Gorring, Philip Adams and Craig Barrett all live on Dja Dja Wurrung country, with each acknowledging their own perspective of life on this land as fundamental to their artistic practice and expression.
Local resident finds fulfillment in volunteering at Maldon Hospital
Dale Tudor, a dedicated volunteer at the Maldon campus of Dhelkaya Health, shares his story to inspire others to join in giving back to the community. "After spending time visiting my dad here, I got to know the staff, and eventually, I decided to become a volunteer" ... Dale finds joy in connecting with both residents and staff.
Local maternity service makes history
Dhelkaya Health has made history by welcoming the very first baby born via a planned caesarean through their midwifery group practice model. Eloise and Peter welcomed their daughter Asta Nicole Batten into the world via planned caesarean on 16 April.
