House demolition numbers on the increase
Jen Melocco. Almost 100,000 homes have been knocked down during the past five years in Australia, with more expected in coming years. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 93,975 house demolitions were approved from March 2019 to March 2023.
Positive hydrogen results revealed
Gold Hydrogen Ltd. has announced encouraging experimental stage one soil gas testing survey results for its southern Yorke Peninsula-based Ramsay project. The tests, which were completed by the CSIRO, detected hydrogen in soil across multiple locations.
Commonwealth support for regional medicine students
Will Hunter. Rural medicine has received a boost as regional Australia continues to face a severe shortage of general practitioners and healthcare staff. The federal government has allocated $114.2 million over four years to permanently increase the number of Commonwealth-supported placements available to rurally trained university students.
Caravan and camping holidays rise in popularity
Caravan and camping holidays are on the rise despite economic uncertainty ... Figures for the March quarter showed a strong surge in travel numbers with people embarking on 4.5 million trips (up 24 per cent) and 18 million nights (up 22 per cent) spent caravanning and camping.
Building company liquidated
Jess Liddy. Commercial building company Felmeri Homes has been liquidated. The appointed builder of the Wallaroo Shores resort development went into voluntary administration in May. Felmeri has debts of between $10 million and $20m owed to up to 35 organisations including site developer Copper Coast Investments (Monopoly Property Group) and Mobil Kadina ... MPG founder Ben Howard said the Wyndham Wallaroo Shores Resort was still progressing.
John Dalla’s shearing success in Scotland
Warooka’s John Dalla had another successful showing at this year’s World Shearing Championships ... An 11-time national title holder, Mr Dalla finished this year’s competition, held at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh, Scotland, with a fifth place in the individual event and fourth in the teams event ... "There’s nothing similar to the sheep in Scotland here in Australia, so it’s actually really difficult to train for."
