A partnership between major landholders and Southern Gulf Natural Resource Management is delivering better pastures for graziers as part of the Natural Resources Investment Program. Working with 20 properties on almost 90,000 hectares of land, management plans were developed to improve their condition.

Glencore is preparing to revive the Mica Creek Power Station after Stanwell handed back the keys to the dormant facility. North West Weekly can reveal the state government body struck a deal with the mining giant last month. However, Stanwell says it has simply returned a Mount Isa Mines asset back to Glencore.

Dr Fromberg said working in remote areas often meant long hours and high stress, which meant the personal life suffered. “The flip side of that is the depth of knowledge and skill a doctor can develop out here,” she told North West Weekly.

Club-auctioned gelding could be off to Birdsville

Mount Isa trainer Jay Morris says a trip to Birdsville could be on the cards for Don’t Despair after the gelding was an impressive first-up winner at Julia Creek on Saturday ... Morris, who is also president of the Mount Isa Race Club, said the former Brisbane horse was purchased by the club and sold at auction at the cocktail party prior to the Mount Isa Cup.
