Summerwave Sundays comes to Cohuna

This Sunday June 22, will be a great day of entertainment in Cohuna as four hours of free music gets underway from 2pm at the Big Cohuna Stockyard, headlined by the up and coming band Velvet Bloom as a part of their debut album launch tour.

Reconciliation Week

There was a large crowd gathered in Victoria Street, at the Kerang Council Building, last Wednesday May 28 to mark National Reconciliation Week 2025. It has been estimated a record 350 people attended the flag raising with Gannawarra Shire Deputy Mayor, Cr Ross Stanton joining Ray Davis in raising the Aboriginal flag.

Rocket man

Born in Cohuna and with family dotted throughout the district, Freddy McLoughlan is now a student at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and the newest member of the RMIT High Velocity Rocketry club that will be making their way to Texas, in the United States, to compete on an international level with teams from all over the globe.

Mother’s Day challenge

Cohuna Secondary College hosted a fun run come fun walk for the Mother’s Day Classic Foundation, on Sunday morning at 9am, along with many other organisations throughout Australia, to raise money for breast cancer research.

Cohuna does well at regional ag show

The Cohuna and District Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society Inc has fared well at the Northern District Agricultural Societies Association of Victoria (NDAS) Group Finals held in Swan Hill last Sunday. Taking out one of the most prestigious awards was Giorgi Boucher.

Big Ride 25

Last Saturday a dedicated group of jet skiers called Barham home for the night as they made their way from Albury to Goolwa in South Australia to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Dubbed the Big Ride 25 it is also hoping to create greater awareness of the disease.

Walking 1000 kilometres

Mandy McConnell is a well-known figure in the Barham community, in part for the many years she has taught at Barham High School. Now, the semi-retired teacher is taking on a mammoth task to raise money and awareness for endometriosis by walking 1000 kilometres in 52 days.
