Wayne Hawthorne. A UK author of more than 10 books, Gill Tee led an interesting life before moving recently to the Naracoorte district. Gill told Naracoorte Men’s Probus Club members how she spent most of her life living in England, but that she has also lived in Spain and now Australia.
Historic Monbulla Hall and School site to go under the hammer in the name of charity
In 1894 the Monbulla School was opened 7km West of Penola on Clay Wells Rd ... Monbulla Hall was built as an addition to the site in the 1950s and would become the primary meeting place for the Monbulla community.
Charity triples school meal service through charity partnerships
Di Ind. A Mount Gambier-based charity providing meals to schoolchildren has tripled their service over the last few months, with the help of fellow charities and organisations. Twenty-five schools across the Limestone Coast have now signed up for the Spare Ya Change 4 Kids (SYC4K) service, an increase from six schools at the beginning of 2023.

Lucindale Survivors survive and conquer Shitbox Rally

In November 2022, Shannon and Erin were handed the keys to the Autumn 2021 Shitbox Rally AU Falcon of local Lucindale Survivors Rohan Giles and Andrew Wilks, and began their fundraising campaign to get the face-lifted Sherlee the Shitbox off the Port Douglas start-line on October 13th 2023 for the Spring 2023 Rally, bound for Adelaide via Birdsville.
Double show success for Naracoorte High
Kristin Murdock. Naracoorte High School’s Agricultural Studies students and staff had a busy show season competing at both the Royal Adelaide Show and Royal Melbourne Show in September ... This year the school entered six steers and two pens of three wethers in the Royal Adelaide Show, with over 20 students attending.
New forestry initiative to create workforce opportunities
A new State Government-funded initiative will support the Limestone Coast timber and forestry sectors to address current skill gap shortages and develop the ‘workforce of the future’. Minister for Education, Skills & Training Blair Boyer officially opened the Mount Gambier Skills Centre this week, which will have a specific focus on timber and forestry, with an accompanying field-based role working directly with industry.

Naracoorte Art Gallery painting restored
Adair Dunsford. A French oil painting which is part of the Naracoorte Regional Art Gallery’s permanent collection has been cleaned and restored. The picture, entitled Marche aux Fleurs or Flower Market by Edouard Cortes has been brought back to life through a grant from mining company, Australian Rare Earths.
