Proposed public art mural for Allora

A community consultation meeting will be held in Allora later this month to discuss the proposal for an art Mural. The Allora Advertiser has received this correspondence from Margaret Baaguly who has received funding for this mural creation.

Protea Place is open for service in Warwick

This week sees the opening of a wonderful Support Centre for Women. Located at 37 Guy Street Warwick Protea Place welcomes vulnerable women who may be experiencing homelessness or disadvantage. The focus of Protea Place Warwick is on delivering Dignity Services such as lunch, showers, laundry, clothing and toiletries along with information and referral where possible.

Signing off after 50 years!

On the 4th of September 1973, CA & VJ Willet were officially registered with the Electrical Contractors Association and so began 50 years of work for the local electrician. Colin commenced his electrical apprenticeship as a 14-year-old with the Southern Electrical Authority (now Ergon) working in Brisbane and Warwick.

Cut above the rest

Popular local apprentice butcher Claire Keleher is an entrant in the Australian Meat Industry Council’s Apprentice of the Year competition. Competing last week in Brisbane at State level, Claire showed her skills amongst the best in the business. Out of fourteen entrants only Claire and another entrant were school based, with many of the others being at the end of their apprenticeships.

Inaugural carriage event coming to Allora

Mark this date on your calendar - Sunday 20th August at 9am when the Allora Showgrounds will be filling up with some beautiful horses and ponies in carriages as the Show Society holds its first ever Allora Carriage Driving Gymkhana! ... At the end of the day there will be the much anticipated Queensland Precision Driving Off the Track feature event where the carriage must move through an obstacle course of cones in the fastest time.

Wattles home in a clean sweep

The Stillwater Pastoral Company Wattles Warriors emerged from a torrid TRL Round 14 top grade clash with the Warwick Cowboys at Clifton’s Platz Oval on Sunday 14 – 12 victors in a match that lived up the spirited contest expected in a Southern Downs local derby. The result could have gone either way between the two top end of the premiership ladder clubs, but it was Wattles that eventually took the honours in the three try to two outcome.
