Vital services continue for vulnerable women
Warwick – Killarney Uniting Church will carry on Protea Place’s work with at risk women in the Southern Downs. New name, new beginning. Now called Willow Tree 37, operating hours will be 10am to 2pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 37 Guy Street Warwick (look for the beautiful house next to the church) ... Already in Allora two small homes have been erected this year and occupiers are happy with the outcome. Following a recent survey on small homes, Southern Downs Regional Council considered the 491 survey submissions and resolved to implement .. changes to make housing more accessible and affordable...
Cunninghams Gap reconstruction project
Work is continuing on the Cunninghams Gap Reconstruction Project to restore the bushfire damaged section of the Cunningham Highway at Cunninghams Gap. The crest of the range has been a hive of activity and works are continuing to reduce the steep grade of the road at Cunninghams Gap.
Wattles Under 18 Ladies blitz Collegians
Coach Bill Gorringe couldn’t be happier and prouder as he witnessed an amazing match display by ‘The Club Hotel – Clifton’ Wattles Under 18 girls’ squad, "they played a smashing game defeating Collegians in Warwick territory".
Silhouettes – Allora Photography Group’s July topic
Members found the July topic "Silhouettes" harder than expected. The independent judge was Tryg Hellander who awarded "Honour" to two entries, Michelle’s "Man and Dog" and Glenda’s "Trumpeting in the Night". Michelle’s candid capture of "Man and Dog" was described by Tryg as "Razor sharp, clean, interesting, unmistakable and pretty much what a silhouette story looks like.
Great results at EKKA for local lamb producer
Matt and Zaya Wood of Culgoa UltraWhite and Dorper Stud from Manapouri brought home some blue ribbons from this year’s Ekka ... Allora Butchery is proud to be associated with Culgoa Stud so Aaron and his team can supply the best cuts of lamb to his customers.
At last – our hall is ready for action
Allora organisations are happy to have the Community Hall operational again so regular events can return to normal. Mayor Melissa Hamilton, Deputy Mayor Sheryl Windle Councillor Sarah Deane and Councillor Carla Pidgeon were in Allora on Friday for the ofï¬cial re-opening of the Community Hall.
Matthew creates history
Matthew Denny is Australia’s first male discus thrower to win a medal at the Olympics. Matthew is also the only Olympian to come from Allora.
