Bartranz Petroleum acquires Kings Fuel Supplies in Tenterfield

In a significant milestone for both businesses, Bartranz Petroleum has officially acquired Kings Fuel Supplies in Tenterfield. This transition marks a special full-circle moment for Bartranz owners Justin and Gretta Barton, as Kings Fuel Supplies was their company’s very first customer.

Allora Show Patron, Dorothy Rubie

2025 marks the 62nd Allora Show for our Patron and Life Member, Mrs Dorothy Rubie. Dorothy commenced her journey as a volunteer with the Allora Show Society when she, her husband Harry and daughter Del, moved from Warwick to their new home in Allora in 1964.

2025 Citizens of the Year announced

Southern Downs Regional Council announced the recipients of the 2025 Citizen of the Year Awards at a special civic ceremony held at Dalveen State School on Sunday 26 January. These outstanding individuals and events were formally honoured for their exceptional dedication, leadership and service.

Heritage Weekend blasts off!

The Allora Heritage Weekend is on again this Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th ... For the two days there’ll be continuous action with displays and demonstrations of vintage and veteran cars and trucks, motorcycles, historical machinery, stationary engines and many interesting antiques.

The famous Postle Gift was held at Pittsworth on Saturday with Brisbane Sprinter Hamish Macintosh winning the main race. Another race that attracted much attention was the Fastest Female Footballer on the Downs.

Record for Australian red meat exports in 2024

Last year was the largest year for red meat exports in history, with records set for beef, lamb, mutton and goatmeat, according to Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA). In 2024, Australia exported 2.24 million tonnes of red meat to 104 countries, representing the largest volume of red meat ever exported.
