Naracoorte hosts shadow cabinet
Chris Oldfield. Humour, youth and a passion for rural and regional people were hallmarks of SA’s Shadow Cabinet who last week gathered in the clubrooms of the Naracoorte showgrounds. Member for MacKillop Nick McBride welcomed his Liberal colleagues and local constituents to the forum, which was part of an intense three-day tour of the region.
Surprise visit a win for Longridge
Chris Oldfield. Following an unannounced site visit by the national Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission assessors, Naracoorte’s community owned and managed aged care home Longridge has been awarded the maximum accreditation period of three years. The impromptu visit by the assessors meant that none of the management, staff or residents knew when Longridge was being assessed until “about two minutes” before auditors walked in the door.
Limestone Coast Producer Directory launches call for Limestone Coast food and beverage businesses to be included in new regional directory
The Limestone Coast Food and Agribusiness Cluster is connecting food and beverage businesses, buyers and consumers across the Limestone Coast with the release of a new online directory for the region. The Limestone Coast Producer Directory is a new interactive tool to connect food and beverage suppliers with consumers and an important tool for retailers, buyers, wholesalers, chefs, caterers, tourism operators and regional events to discover and promote local business and boost awareness of the incredible range and quality of producers in the region.
Mayor speaks with council management

Recently elected mayor Patrick Ross has hit the ground running, meeting one-on-one with CEO Trevor Smart and various managers within the Naracoorte Lucindale Council ... “I just asked each of them to fill me in on where we are at - what they were doing and what their job descriptions were and what their various departments looked like when it comes to staffing and some of the budgets – their allocation,” Mr Ross said.

Patrick Ross elected mayor
Chris Oldfield. Patrick Ross has stormed to victory as Naracoorte Lucindale Council’s provisionally elected new mayor and says “thank you” to all residents and ratepayers of the district. The overwhelming result in favour of Mr Ross as a result of the November 10 council election saw him easily surpass the 1761 vote quota with 2111 votes – or 60 per cent of the votes cast.
