Council sets cheap rental rate for doctors’ accommodation

The Narrandera Shire Council has agreed to a two year residential tenancy agreement for the property 19 Argyle Street with NGPM Pty Ltd, owners of the Narrandera Medical Centre … Mrs Elizabeth Romeo from the Narrandera Medical Centre met with the General Manager George Cowan about the doctor shortage … Market rental at $380 per week with an agreed rental of $100 per week means that Council will have to subsidise the rental to the value of $280 per week.

New improved arena perfect site for Marrar Campdraft

Marrar recently ran their annual Marrar CASE IH JBS Campdraft on a brand new improved arena surface and viewing area which was supported by a grant from the Stronger Communities Fund. The events kicked off at daylight on Friday with the excitement of 900 first round runs to push through.

Hat trick of cups for Narrandera trotting Team Jones

The husband and wife team of Blake and Ellen Jones completed a recent Coolamon Cup three peat after Keto (Sweet Lou) led all the way to snare the harness racing silverware. Local reinsman Peter McRae was handed the reins on the Ellen Jones trained $3.60 second elect while her husband was in charge of the stablemate American Legacy.

IPART says Yes to raising Shire rates

IPART has approved the Narrandera Shire Council’s request for approval of a permanent special variation of 48.1 per cent over two years from 2024-25 to 2025-26. This includes an increase of 25.5 per cent in 2024-25 and 18 per cent in 2025-26. It is intended to apply this increase across all rating categories.

Emergency Services Open Day a success

Around 400 people gathered on the day to watch live demonstrations and displays of vehicles and equipment ... All of Narrandera’s emergency services were present, including the SES, the Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA), Fire and Rescue NSW, the Rural Fire Service (RFS), Police Force and the Rapid Relief Team.

Smash hit for Kurrajong Performance Group

Kurrajong Performance Group enjoyed a successful premiere of their play ‘When Juliet Met Johnny’ over the weekend. They had their opening show on Friday and a huge closing show on Sunday, with over 750 people filling the CRC Theatre at Narrandera across the two days.

Narrandera Knights junior representative basketball teams enjoyed great success at last weekend’s Western Junior League finals series in Griffith. For a small association, Narrandera was well represented with six of the seven 2024 teams qualifying for finals where the U12 girls and U16 girls progressed to grand final matches.

Books on East started as a small popup bookstore during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and has since expanded into a swiftly growing bookstore. The store recently underwent an exciting new expansion as their customer base and the demand for more stock warranted a larger space.
