Roxy hosts inaugural E-Sports Gaming Tournament
Competitors were in for a one-of-a-kind gaming experience with the game feed being cast onto the large projector screen in the Roxy auditorium. The event included competitions across the games “Super Smash Brothers” (22 competitors), “Mario Kart” (16 competitors) and “Rocket League” (16 competitors).
‘We will survive’ says Survival Day speaker
While Australia Day celebrations took pride and place in Narrandera on Sunday, some locals marched to display their "resistance". A Survival Day march attracted a crowd of about 100 people who marched along East Street to the Narrandera Memorial Gardens ... One of those who spoke at the Gardens was Narrandera Shire Councillor Braden Lyons.
Huge clean-up required as storms hit Riverina and other parts of state
NSW State Emergency Service (SES) members have responded to thousands of incidents since severe storms hit various areas of NSW including the Riverina last week. Narrandera escaped unscathed. The significant thunderstorms impacted the Riverina and southern NSW on Wednesday afternoon, causing widespread damage.

Lockhart shearer continues to break records
A record year of world sheep shearing records has ended with Lockhart shearer Nicki Guttler’s breaking of a new mark. Guttler, who was third in a women’s event at the Golden Shears in Masterton in March 2024, shore 450 merino lambs in eight hours at Parkdale Merino Stud, near Dubbo – the 11th successful record bid in 2024.
Ganmain Show bucks the trend of declining agricultural shows
Many country agricultural shows remain in doubt for 2025. However some country shows bucked the trend and drew a large crowd. Ganmain Show was one of them, attracting more than 2500 people in 2024.
Myers family Summernats fundraiser
Well known Summernats competitors Jake Myers, Amy Myers, Deby and Gary Myers and their team raised $4500.80 for the Neuroblastoma Foundation at this year’s Summernats car festival in Canberra ACT. Jake Myers owns the famous S1CKO 1966 Mustang which he had white vinyl wrapped for his wedding back in October 2024 and decided after the wedding to leave the white on and let people sign it at Summernats with a twist.
