Big surf & big performances highlight the opening Woolworths WA Junior Surf Titles in Margaret River
The surf gods delivered with Main Break showing it can handle a wide variety of conditions, with 2-3 feet waves on Saturday building to 6-10 feet yesterday. The conditions brought out the best from WA's new generation of surfing superstars who relished the opportunity to surf in arguably some of the biggest surf ever seen at a junior surfing event in the country.
Much-loved and missed artist, Diana Keir, continues to inspire through the Kangaroo Island Art Exhibition
A strong friendship, a lasting legacy and a prize to inspire and recognise artists – the Diana Keir Art Award is much more than another accolade in South Australia’s art world ... Diana's friend Alexandra McCarthy wanted to honour Diana’s memory by establishing the Diana Keir Art Award. The prize for this year’s Exhibition is $5000. It will double to $10,000 for the 2023 Exhibition.
Latest Mount Morgan water restrictions
Level 6 Water Restrictions will be implemented in Mount Morgan from Monday 15 March, following the news that the No. 7 Dam has fallen to below 10% capacity. However, the water conservation by Mount Morgan residents means watering of private gardens can continue ... Cr Rutherford: “Residents have worked so hard to keep plants and veggie patches alive despite the hot dry weather, and to say watering would no longer be possible would have been very tough."
March@TRAG – Sharing the Vision: Marion Bolton and the Lindsay Collection
A tribute to Marion Bolton and her vital role, alongside her husband W.R.F. (Bill) Bolton, in establishing the Lionel Lindsay Gallery and Library Collection in 1959. The Lindsay Collection has been housed at Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery since 1994. Exhibition on display 20 March - 11 July.
ArtSouthWA Southern Art and Craft Trail 2021 entries open
ArtSouthWA is delighted to be inviting the artists and craftspeople of the greater southern region of WA to make their applications to be part of the 2021 Southern Art and Craft Trail Event. The 2 week event takes place during the September October School holidays.
Bipartisan support for tourism investment in Jarrahdale
The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has welcomed two recent announcements which show bipartisan support to grow the region’s local tourism industry ... “We welcome these funding commitments from the major political parties as we work to grow and enhance our local trails and tourism industry, together,” Cr Rich said. “Domestic tourism has never been more important, with Western Australians looking to their own backyards for holiday ideas.
Over 130 street trees planted
Planting has finished with round one of Maitland City Council’s Community Street Tree Planting Program seeing 136 trees installed during February. Expressions of interest were called from residents in September 2020, and the positive level of response received highlighted people’s interest in environmentally driven projects and green spaces in Maitland.
