Pitt’s pledge on export markets rings hollow
Madeleine King MP, Shadow Minister for Trade, Shadow Minister for Resources, Media Release. The Morrison Government’s poor record on trade diversification has again been highlighted by its announcement of a vague $20 million strategy to build new markets for Australian resources exports. Resources Minister Keith Pitt said today his Global Resources Strategy would develop closer relationships with key trading partners through better engagement at both government and industry levels.
New global resources strategy to help diversify exports

The Coalition Government is investing $20 million in a Global Resources Strategy which will help diversify exports and find new markets for Australia’s resources and technology. Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia Keith Pitt launched the new global strategy in Townsville with Member for Herbert, Phillip Thompson. Minister Pitt said it will help to strengthen Australian resources exports and promote Australia as a reliable and responsible supplier to the world.
NSWRL Country vs City squads named for representative weekend
The NSWRL is pleased to announce the Country and City squads for the representative matches on the weekend of 15-16 May across three venues. The program will see Country vs City matches being played on Saturday 15 May for Wheelchair Rugby League at Shellharbour City Stadium in Croom near Albion Park, and Country vs City for Under 16s, Under 18s and Women’s Open Age at Bankwest Stadium, Parramatta.
Bellingen Show returns bigger and better than ever
Janene Carey. A record-breaking number of people poured through the gates of the Bellingen Agricultural Show on the weekend of May 8-9. Show Society President Gillian Anderson said this year’s COVID-safe requirements were also an opportunity to make the administrative side of the show more efficient by moving ticket sales and entries online.
Walgett Show – still going strong!
Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th May, 2021. Walgett Show is the main event on Walgett Show Society's calendar. It is held at Walgett Racecourse and Showground, typically on Mother's Day weekend each year. The Show brings together Walgett Shire residents and visitors are welcome.

The Nyngan Show will be held this Sunday 9th & Monday 10th May. We have a great line up of events and entertainment, including Walter Whip who'll be conducting a workshop during both days and performing at the rodeo Sunday night and before the fireworks show on Monday night.

Melinda Browning responds to Beverley McArthur MP's media release ... "Mrs McArthur has been misinformed. The correct interpretation of the research is as follows: Out of a sample size of 623 wild canids killed in Victoria as a result of ‘Wild Dog’ (Dingo) Control activities 98.5% proved to be either pure dingoes or have greater than 50% dingo ancestry. Conversely, just 1.5% proved to be domestic dogs with less than 50% dingo ancestry ..."

Creator of portable in-paddock weighing system wins MLA Producer Innovation Award
Armidale producer Bill Mitchell has won the 2021 Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) Producer Innovation Award for his remote cattle weighing system, Optiweigh, that enables in-paddock weighing and monitoring. Mr Mitchell was presented the award last night at the Rabobank Beef Industry Awards presented by Queensland Country Life, at Beef Australia 2021 in Rockhampton. Optiweigh is a fully portable in-paddock weighing system that works in all environments, does not require animal training, and does not require installation of additional infrastructure.
