Nhill’s “saucer man”
John Williams. In the 1950s, reports of "flying saucers" became a cultural phenomenon. And Nhill was not alone when it came to such sightings. It was 10 minutes to midnight on an October night in 1954 when three local residents saw what they thought was a flying saucer.
Last round of chemo
I am so, so happy to say that after multiple ultrasounds, CT scans, X-Rays, procedures, a biopsy, a major surgery, 4 months of living in Melbourne and separated from family, countless doctors appointments, hospital admissions, ER trips, blood tests, echocardiograms and 31 weeks of chemotherapy, my baby is finally in remission.

Western Ag defib project continues to support rural communities
Chris Drew. Western Ag continued their Supporting Communities Campaign through 2023 and are pushing on in 2024, equipping more regional communities with potentially life-saving automated external defibrillators (AED). The campaign, supported by Nufarm Australia, began in 2022 and at the end of 2023 had put 15 defibrillators into rural communities. The project has started strong this year, with a further 14 defibs donated to Wimmera Southern Mallee Development...
Successful Pink Stumps Day
Kaniva hosted a successful day for Pink Stumps Day and Ladies Day, raising vital funds for breast cancer research, raising over $4,000, as well as winning the day’s game against Western Flat 129-7-131. This is Kaniva’s 3rd time hosting the event and first back since covid restrictions.

Romance in the air
During the WW2 years, the Nhill Aerodrome was the setting for the Nhill RAAF Astro Navigation and later the Aircraft Armament and Gas Schools, where over 10,000 people received training under the Empire Air Training Scheme.
Liam Holland in top 25 high achievers for 2023
On the 26th January Liam Holland had the opportunity to wine, dine and mingle with the Governor of Victoria, Her Excellency Margaret Gardner and several hundred other people from all over Victoria. These invitees were all handpicked for the Australia Day Reception at Government House for being high achievers in their careers or education.

Hindmarsh Shire Council announced the 2024 Youth Councillors with a certificate presentation on Friday 9 February 2024 at the Dimboola Library. The Youth Council leadership and team-building weekend retreat with Bonnie from Youth Leadership Academy Australia got underway after the certificate presentation.
