Bursting Woods Street bubble

Donald has experienced a few floods in its lifetime; however, usually there is at least some warning from the encroaching Richardson River. The flood occurring on Thursday morning, June 22, was not due to the river, though. The cause of this flood, and subsequent main highway shutdown in Woods Street, was due to a burst water pipe.

Cuppas and companionship tackle cancer: Charlton’s Biggest Morning Tea

North Central LLEN meets at the Rex

More than 50 board members, staff, partners, stakeholders, and community members attended the North Central LLEN Annual General Meeting and stakeholder event at the Rex Theatre in Charlton last week. Hosted by CEO Jane Hosking and fellow staff member Molly Meadows, the evening featured a range of elements including the AGM itself and a facilitated panel of young people about why they chose agriculture as a career pathway.

Cold wind, but quality racing

A fiercely determined wind seemed to blow spectators away from the Donald racecourse on Saturday, leaving behind only die-hard fans and those in the industry to enjoy the quality racing on display. Aside from the wind, the weather was picture-perfect, and the track, rated a soft 7, was upgraded to a soft 6 early in the program, with the rail in the true position for the entire circuit.

With some key members missing due to the Senior Championship and others being away, Donald knew that it was going have to work hard against Sea Lake-Nandaly Tigers, as they had been playing so well. And work well they did.

Roads left in ruins

Victoria’s roads will continue to worsen after the State Government confirmed this week there is no additional funding for repairs after floods last year. Roads Minister Melissa Horne was lost for answers on Wednesday as a Public Accounts and Estimates hearing heard that the Government’s road asset management budget has been cut 25 per cent in this year’s budget.
