Due to an increase in sea surface temperatures in recent years, the sustainable recreational catch target range of 25 tonnes to 29 tonnes has been set for the 2021-22 season.

Christian Porter says he won’t run for Pearce

Christian Porter has announced that he is not running for the seat of Pearce in the next federal election. Mr Porter, who was elected to Pearce in 2013, made the announcement to his electorate on Facebook. ... On October 19 Mr Porter told Yanchep News Online that Pearce had probably benefited from more federal funding than any other seat for comparable projects in Australia.

Emergency location area for horses and large animals in Wanneroo

Wanneroo councillors have given their approval for the city to enter a memorandum of understanding with the Wanneroo Trotting and Training Club for a temporary animal relocation area during emergencies such as bushfires. During the 2019 Yanchep bushfire some Seatrees and Breakwater residents with horses, sheep and alpacas had to leave them behind when they evacuated.

Yanchep shopping centre extension gets tick of approval

The $22m expansion of the Yanchep Central Shopping Centre has been approved by the Metro Outer JDAP after a short delay due to Main Roads WA’s concerns about future vehicle queuing along Peony Blvd during peak periods ... The shopping centre expansion is estimated to result in 106 construction jobs and up to 723 centre positions.

Lancelin search for missing man continues

The search for a missing man continued off the coast of Lancelin today while mounted police officers searched the beach. WA Police said several vessels, police divers, police air-wing and remotely piloted aircrafts were involved in the search for 49-year-old Matthew Phillips.

Retiring Shire of Gingin councillors Jacqui Lobb and James Morton have been replaced by Robert Kestel and Erik Sorensen. Sitting councillors Kim Rule and Frank Johnson were returned for another four-year term.

Small pieces of broken glass in beach sand

Sand at Yanchep Lagoon beach contains small pieces of broken glass with some pieces measuring 5mm to 13mm. Some of it is clear glass but there are also blue and shades of green and brown pieces in the sand ... the City of Wanneroo said the sand contamination issue was quickly detected and the beach and beach access points were closed for public safety.
