Movember takes Rhys to Geneva

Austinn Lane. Central Yorke School, Maitland, year 11 student Rhys Heinrich recently returned from Switzerland, where he represented Australia as part of the Movember Youth Action Council. Rhys was selected at short notice to attend a four-day conference at the World Health Organization headquarters ... Gold Hydrogen drilling new well east of Minlaton

Caitlin Menadue. Gold Hydrogen has started drilling a new well, Ramsay 3, on farmland east of Minlaton in search of natural hydrogen ... Last week, the Ramsay 3 site hosted over 30 Japanese investors and officials from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Japan Organisation for Metals and Energy Security, and industry representatives from Iwatani Corporation, Tokyo Gas, Eneos Xplorer, Toyota and Mitsubishi.

Rallying for respect

Michelle Daw. Wallaroo nurses, midwives and their supporters were among hundreds who rallied across South Australia last week in support of a union pay claim. The rallies, held on Wednesday, October 30, were organised by the South Australian branch of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation as part of its RESPECT campaign.

Maddison tops SA at Nationals

Austinn Lane. Maitland showjumper Maddison Wissell has maintained her strong form in the 2025 season, delivering standout performances on the national stage. She competed at the Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships in Sydney at the end of September, placing third and fifth overall in the intermediate 90cm jumping class, riding two different horses. 

Fishers support gulf ban

Michelle Daw. Yorke Peninsula's commercial fishers have again called for a ban on all fishing in Gulf St Vincent to allow stocks to rebuild. Russell Boord, of Port Moorowie, said the extent of the damage caused by the bloom required drastic measures, and backed the request for a ban made by commercial fishers to the Senate's algal bloom inquiry committee in Ardrossan in early September.
