Valley Watch takes council to NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal

Eight years of frustration by local community group Valley Watch over Clarence Valley Council not releasing important Yamba floor level survey results will now be subjected to a review by the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Valley Watch spokes-person Helen Tyas Tunggal said 14 years after Yamba’s existing flooding problem was identified in council’s 2008 flood study, and eight years since professional floor level surveys were done in 2014, affected residents are still unable to access the results.

CCC staff take further action against Serco
For the second time in 10 days, prison officers from the Clarence Correctional Centre (CCC) stopped work amidst ongoing frustrations surrounding multinational Serco’s current refusal to improve what have been described as unsafe working conditions or increase employee pay rates ... The latest event followed a rally at the Truck Drivers Memorial Park in South Grafton on September 30, which was attended by more than 80 CCC prison officers, who loudly voiced their concerns.
CVC splash $3.8 million on Grafton Olympic Pool while diving for further funding

It was a lifeline that stretched more than 8km. 56 trucks transporting over 2000 bales of hay, generously donated by farmers across Victoria, arrived in the Clarence Valley on September 30, bound for local properties owned by hobby farmers and primary producers who are continuing to struggle following months of relentless wet weather which has severely compromised their livelihoods.

Grafton TAFE staff stop work to take action
Cries of “make sure our TAFE is here to stay,” rose high in the air as staff and members of the NSW Teachers Federation from Grafton TAFE joined hundreds of their colleagues across the state on September 21, holding a stop work meeting to voice their concerns regarding uncompetitive salaries, exploitation of casual employees, and untenable workloads.
