Ganmain Triathlon proves as popular as ever
With 292 participants registered to take part in the Ganmain Triathlon on Sunday, the day was an astounding success. 101 triathletes took part in the Open Sprint race, with Ed Langdon first over the line with a time of 55:30, while he was closely followed by Jared Kahlefeldt finishing in 57:30.
Firm results from Barellan ewe sale
Barellan annual First Cross Ewe sale was held last Friday with agents Mark Flagg Livestock & Property Pty Ltd of Barellan announcing the results. Best extra heavyweight ewe lambs sold to firm rates on recent sales with most lines $20 - $30 cheaper than a recent noted first cross ewe sale.
Junee losing Commonwealth Bank, who will be next?
Junee Shire Council is fighting back against the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s (CBA) decision to close the last remaining financial institution in its town. CBA, who announced a $9.2 billion net profit last year, is pushing ahead with plans to permanently shut its Junee bank branch and ATM in March, despite pleas from residents who now face an hour-long round trip to Wagga for transactions and loan services.
Local heroes celebrated

Well known Narrandera Shire resident Rex Evans was rewarded for his generous and ongoing contribution to Narrandera shire communities over many years with the 2023 Citizen of the Year Award ... NAIDOC Survival Day march
Narrandera’s Narrungderra NAIDOC March down East Street on Sunday was joined by participants of all ages, including noted Aboriginal personality Stan Grant Junior. ... The march moved to the Memorial Gardens in East Street where a smoking ceremony and other activities took place.
Country music show by Dolly’s Dream ambassador
Country music on horseback will rev up Narrandera tomorrow night when multiple Golden Guitar winner, Tom Curtain, rides in to the Narrandera Showground ... Tom is an official ambassador for Dolly’s Dream, and uses his music and shows to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and wellbeing in rural communities.
Landcare’s bird survey surprises participants
Narrandera Landcare’s quarterly bird survey at The Wetlands recently surprised the group, with participants finding 25 species! There were almost no waterbirds but lots and lots of woodland birds.
