A team of netball players is winning hearts on and off the court as they connect with the community and change mindsets about what people with disabilities can achieve. The Kurrajong Krushers, a team of clients from Kurrajong Narrandera, Leeton, and Griffith, have joined the Narrandera social netball competition, and have been winning fans for the past five weeks.
Dream come true: Murray rafters raise nearly $100,000 for prostate cancer awareness
A group of men who set off on a raft affectionately known as ‘Shed down the Murray’ to raise money for prostate cancer earlier this month have now successfully completed their journey. The group stopped in at various towns along the way, including Narrandera, to rest as well as raise awareness around prostate cancer.
Worldwide skills competition brings gold and silver medals to YAHS
Yanco Agricultural High School student Jake Turner won a gold medal at the VETS Primary Industries National Worldskills competition in Melbourne at the weekend. Another YAHS student Lachlan Broad picked up a silver medal and fellow student Cody Grady also represented NSW and the YAHS with pride, narrowly missing out on a medal.
Vision to start wool tourism attraction in our region
Restoration of the Riverina’s largest woolshed and its conversion into a museum and major tourist attraction is gaining momentum, with locals hopeful they will officially own five acres of land containing old shearers’ quarters and sheds within weeks. Toganmain Station, located between Darlington Point and Carrathool, was established in 1867 as one of the first grazing properties in the region.
Horse trials ‘biggest and best yet’
The REA Wagga Wagga Horse Trials held their biggest event to date in Narrandera last weekend. The competition boasted 268 starters on the day from all over Australia including Albany (WA), Mornington Peninsula (Vic), the Central Coast, Sydney and locals from throughout the region.

Narrandera's talented fashion designer Lillardia Briggs-Houston has been named fashion designer of the year at Australia’s fourth annual National Indigenous Fashion Awards. These awards recognise excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander fashion and textile design.
