Volunteers save Lockhart airfield from closure
Sean Cunningham. The decision to keep Lockhart Airstrip opened has proved to be a good one with a group of workers regularly toiling hard to maintain it. Early last year, Lockhart Shire Council was considering closing the airstrip, however after many submissions were received requesting council to reconsider its proposal, council agreed by resolution to continue with the lease of the airstrip.

Former Narrandera resident now painter Tim Snowdon has had a fulfilling life as a talented painter, dipping his brush in many different genres over time: still life, landscape, contemporary, traditional, portraiture – and of course houses. Mayor and deputy returned for further terms on council
Sean Cunningham. Narrandera's voters have returned Narrandera Shire Council Mayor Neville Kschenka and Deputy Mayor Sue Ruffles to the new council, following Saturday’s Local Government Election. Councillor Kschenka received the highest number of votes with 14.89 per cent of the formal votes, while Cr Ruffles attracted the next largest margin of votes with 12.86 per cent of the formal votes cast, according to the number of votes counted at the time of going to publication.
Biggest RFL final crowd in years at premier Narrandera Sportsground
AFL officials were pleased to see a large increase in the crowd for this year’s Riverina League grand final at the Narrandera Sportsground on Sunday. What was described as the biggest Riverina League grand final crowd post COVID turned out to watch Collingullie-Wagga upset the previously undefeated Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong.
1,500 students look to the future with AgTech skills
Sean Cunningham. Agvision Yanco took place last week to promote agricultural careers to hundreds of students from throughout the Riverina-Murray region. It is the biggest regional NSW interactive event which promotes careers in agriculture.

It's not even Fire Season yet and already there are many fires across the State. In the MIA this week there were numerous grass and structure fires ... These fires highlighted that even though the weather was cooler and the environment wet with a lot of green growth, fires are still possible.
Galore solar farm operators begin early planning
Sean Cunningham. Galore is set to get a solar farm which will contain half a million solar panels, but it won’t be coming to fruition anytime soon. Electricity retail business Flow Power plans to construct the solar farm near Galore, however its Head of Project Development Mark Raymond said the planning is in the early stages.
