Council responds to water complaints – no reason for concern

Narrandera Shire Council has received the results from recent PFAS (per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances) testing in the local drinking water supply, offering assurances to residents that there is no cause for concern. The assurances follow recent complaints from residents about the colour of Narrandera water which is not a new occurrence in the town.

Narrandera High student recognised for outstanding achievement

Narrandera High School student Tahlia Gilbert has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to Aboriginal education in NSW public schools at the 19th annual Nanga Mai Awards. Tahlia’s award was the outstanding all-rounder student of the year in NSW’s secondary education.

Unique mural at Griffith

Griffith's stunning new mural on the nine-megalitre drinking water tank on Scenic Hill was officially launched recently. A small crowd of Griffith City Councillors and staff gathered to hear artist Heesco reveal the inspiration behind his stunning artwork, which skilfully weaves together the themes of water, multiculturalism, agriculture and manufacturing and Indigenous heritage.

Riverina landholders hear legal perspective on river flows and easements

Helen Castles. Landholders are voicing their concerns about proposed environmental easements on properties along the Murrumbidgee River under the NSW Government’s Reconnecting Rivers and Landholder Negotiation Scheme (LNS). The draft LNS Regulation and negotiation guidelines outline the approach the NSW Government will take when negotiating voluntary agreements with landholders affected by future environmental water deliveries at higher flow levels, or under different regimes, than current operating practice.

‘Rabbit’s’ PodVan visits Narrandera

In the late 1990s, Dave ‘Rabbit’ Rabbetts was a household name throughout the MIA as the original breakfast radio host on Griffith’s edgy new youth station, FM99.7. More than two decades later, he has taken his show on the road, doing what he does best from a mobile podcasting studio dubbed The PodVan, delivering "a celebration of the lighter side of life".

Young golfer’s motivation leads to continued success

Sean Cunningham. Narrandera Public School pupil Braxton Ivanoff was part of the winning New South Wales golf team which was crowned this year’s Team Stroke Champions of the School Sport Australia (SSA) 12 years and under National Golf Championship. Braxton qualified for the NSW team when he previously finished eighth in the NSW School Sports Association Championship in the Hunter Valley..

‘We should never forget’ plea at Remembrance Day

Sean Cunningham. The loss of Australian lives from all wars and conflicts was commemorated by locals ... during a Remembrance Day service at the Narrandera Memorial Gardens ... On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, people gathered not only in Narrandera, but around the Riverina and Australia-wide, to pause to remember those who have fought and died in conflicts around the globe so we can enjoy the lives we have today.
