Riverina dam levels diving compared to the rest of NSW

Blowering Dam water levels have fallen by nearly 70 per cent to 31 per cent capacity and while rain has drenched much of NSW, in the Riverina conditions are not so good with dams drying up. Blowering Dam, which usually holds the equivalent of three times Sydney Harbour, is now down to 31 per cent of its maximum capacity.

Young Gillenbah recruits great addition to fire fighting ranks

The Gillenbah Rural Fire Service recently celebrated a major win as five new recruits officially joined the ranks after successfully completing their final Bush Fire Fighting assessments ... Training, which is conducted over a couple of months, covered all the basics from how to draught water from a dam or the town's reticulated supply (main water lines), to pump operation and crew protection under extreme fire conditions.

Narrandera RSL carries on the ANZAC tradition with dawn service and march

Although skies threatened rain and the school holidays pulled numbers down, Narrandera's ANZAC spirit was still alive and well at last Friday's commemorations to mark the 110th anniversary of ANZAC Day to honour Australia's fallen. About 140 early risers gathered for the solemn Dawn Service, while 20 made their way to the War Graves for a quiet moment of reflection.
