Hicks plays 50th AFLW game
Jodie Hicks played her 50th AFLW game last Saturday night in the Richmond Tigers’ Dreamtime in Darwin clash against Essendon. It was a frantic final few minutes of the first AFLW Dreamtime match, which saw both sides score 6.6 (42) to post a full-time draw … Hicks was a first-round pick at the 2017 AFLW Draft and has not missed a game in the past three seasons.
Buybacks petition still needs support
Mrs Dalton wants the NSW Government to take a stand against the Federal Government’s move to take productive water from regions under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan using the water buyback scheme. A petition organised by Ms Dalton needs 10,000 signatures, and Ms Dalton said she’s got just over 5000 so far ... "10,000 signatures will bring on debate in NSW parliament."
Member for Farrer clarifies expenses
The Member for Farrer Sussan Ley has clarified her expenses for the April to June period, following last week’s story "Local pollies’ expenses revealed". The Riverine Grazier reported Ms Ley as having the highest expenditure for office facilities and administration ($228,572). This figure was compared to the electorates of Riverina and Parkes, and the Senate office of Ms Perin Davey.

Riverine Grazier takes a stand to protect children
The Riverine Grazier has made a decision to not publish images of children under the age of 13 online, in a move aimed to protect local kids. At the invitation of the NSW Government and representing Country Press NSW, Grazier manager Krista Schade attended the Social Media Summit ... "The eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant spoke of the hazards of sharing images of children online, on open pages, which prompted Tertia and I to reconsider how our newspaper handles images of young children."
LHAC hosts successful hospital open day
Hay’s Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) hosted a very well attended open day at Hay Multipurpose Service (MPS) ... More than 65 community members and service providers gathered on the lawns for morning tea, before tours of McFarland Wing were given by Acting Facility Manager Melissa O’Brien.

Ginning ends – Successful season for AFF gin
The 2024 ginning season came to an end last week at the Australian Food and Fibre (AFF) gin south of Hay. The ginning season ran for five months and processed 45,000 round modules into 199,000 finished bales, making 2024 one of the Hay gin’s biggest runs ... “Prices are down a little, but yields are well up.”
