The day the music died – Dave Price, 98 hangs up his clarinet

Terry Collins. At the age of 98, David Price is saying goodbye to the community band Tempo Terrific. Price has played bass clarinet with the band since its formation in 1998.

Families furious with 10 per cent rise in childcare fees

Families who use childcare and early education centres run by Central Coast Council are furious with the plan to raise fees by 10% and worried about what it means for their working future. One called it a cash grab, another said it was a rip off ... "disgusting cash grab from Council"...

No plans to privatise national parks

Minister for the Central Coast, Member for Wyong David Harris has hit back at suggestions made by the State Liberal Party's Shadow Minister Jacqui Munro that there is something sinister about plans to allow some campgrounds in national parks to be set aside for private operators to manage.

Minority councillors complain debate is gagged

Merilyn Vale. Four councillors have spoken up about practices at Central Coast Council meetings, saying power is being abused, procedures aren't being followed and debate is being gagged. The comments highlight the party political divide dominating meetings with the complaints coming from two Labor councillors – Kyle MacGregor and Margot Castles – and two independent councillors – Jane Smith and Corinne Lamont – who don't hold the numbers in Council.
