Central Murray’s best carcasses crowned
Central Murray Best Wool Best Lamb Carcass Competition had a record 177 carcases entered from 27 local producers for its 10th anniversary. Producers were spread from Blighty in the East, Balranald and Wanganella to the North, Quambatook to the South West and Kerang/Murrabit to the South East, with this year’s competition attracting a greater number of youth.

Industrial renewables laid bare
The Pyramid Hill was a hive of activity on Sunday as community members from Loddon and Gannawarra Shires gathered to discuss industrial renewable developments openly. The meeting hosted by Loddon Valley Renewables Awareness Group provided an open community forum, something that is avoided at all costs for transmission line and renewable developments, as one speaker framed it, "divide and conquer" is the standard modus operandi.

World Bowls commences!
Thirty-two nations from across the globe will compete for a world title in the men’s and women’s singles at the 2025 World Bowls Champion of Champions at cluBarham. An estimated 3,000 visitors will be in our twin towns for the prestigious international event, with 27 men and 30 women competing at cluBarham’s state-of-the-art bowling facility.

Local connection to fallen nurse
Joy Cassidy presented a touching talk as guest speaker at Cohuna RSL ... Joy spoke of her Aunt, Rosetta Joan Wight who was one of the 21 nurses massacred by the Japanese in WW2 after their surrender at Radji Beach, Bangka Island.
Basin Plan chickens return to roost

The court case of irrigators vs the MDBA, and last week’s suspension of NSW environmental water delivery has clearly demonstrated what locals have been concerned about, but remained unheard due to the dramatic power imbalance between the arbiter of truth, the Murray-Darling Basin Authority, and the political aspirations of the politicians involved.
