Lovegrass control measures

What is the outcome from the motion about the invasive African Lovegrass? This was the question on notice put to the chief executive officer of the Tatiara District Council by Cr Miles Hannemann during its July council meeting. Fears of the invasive African Lovegrass fully invading the Tatiara district and potentially destroying the agriculture sector are growing … Cr Hannemann described the situation involving the spread of the lovegrass as “scary and a superspreader”.

Naracoorte Hospital upgrade – “Fit for purpose”

The emergency department at Naracoorte Hospital is being fixed to make it “fit for purpose”. Health Minister Chris Picton says the community deserves to have a hospital they are proud of and can provide a high quality of care. Mr Picton was part of a delegation from the Health Ministry that visited the hospital on August 7 to see the progress of $8million upgrade work supported by the government.

The Health Minister has welcomed the Limestone Coast Local Health Network board’s decision to endorse “several common-sense” recommendations from the feasibility study on establishing a radiation therapy service in Mount Gambier for the South East. Lucky escape

That’s the view of Cr Craig McGuire, who told the council meeting in June that the community wanted to know what was going on in their council. Council hit by cyber attack

The Wattle Range Council is investigating a cyber incident, where data has been accessed and taken from its IT environment. The council confirmed that the cyber attack involved access to some of its file drives by an unauthorised third party ... Council said a priority of their investigation was to determine exactly what information was involved, and who it related to.

War of words

A war of words has broken out between Health Minister Chris Picton and Member of Barker Tony Pasin over the release of a feasibility study on delivering radiation treatment services for the region. Mr Pasin claimed the local health bureaucracy, the Limestone Coast Local Health Network (LCLHN), has “snubbed” the release of the report, hiding it from the public and the volunteers of the Limestone Coast Radiation Treatment Working Group.
