Best of the breeds put on right royal display at Sydney

The Sydney Royal Easter Show’s breed classes have again provided a highlight for spectators as the best of the best go under the judges’ eyes.

Jane Bunn to attend the airshow!

As if all the promise to see a Grumman Avenger, a Delorian, or Paul Bennet performing his acrobatics is not enough, the Airshow Committee are pleased to announce yet another exciting surprise for those planning to attend. Jane Bunn the popular, Channel 7 weather forecaster, has agreed to be the ‘Guest of Honour’ on the day.

Balingup Small Farm Field Day, 6 April 2024

The Balingup Small Farm Field Day is being held on Saturday April 6th 9am til 3.30pm on Balingup Town Oval. It is the largest of its kind in the area and has been running every year since 1991 except for COVID cancellations. Farm visits run on 6th and 7th April.

Gypsy Cobs – a breed loved for work ethic and temperament

The Gypsy Cob is one of the “new” breeds being seen in Australian show rings in recent years. Their history is based in the Romani culture. As their work horses and living with the Romani families, they developed a strong work ethic and equitable temperament. They were so cherished by their owners that the saying was that “gypsy gold does not clink and glitter, it gleams in the sun and neighs in the dark”.

First of the big Welsh shows features some hot competition

Welsh ponies seem to bloom in March, with NSW leading the way, followed by the Victorian show later in the month. The 2024 NSW All Welsh Show was held at the Hawkesbury Showground, Clarendon, which is just west of Sydney before the Blue Mountains.

Bonalbo Show, 12-13 April 2024

The Bonalbo Show is fast approaching. This year the show will be held Friday 12 and Saturday 13 April at the Bonalbo Showgrounds. The Show Schedule is available online at the Bonalbo Show website – www.bonalboshow.com.au and copies are also at several locations in Bonalbo and around the district.

Show a spectacle of flying feathers and jingling harness

The Clydesdale and Heavy Horse Show held at Werribee Park each year is an absolute spectacle. People have a deep love for the past and the great horse that made Australia, so to see them on display as they parade on the green grass is something really special.

Gloucester Show, 22-23 March 2024

The demo derby will return, along with the pie eating competition, camp oven cook up and billy boiling competition. Regular attractions include the animal nursery, fireworks and post splitting competitions, reptile display and sideshow alley.

Gourd almighty! Pumpkin prodigies pummel Ekka record with giant win

In a battle of supersized proportions, Toowoomba’s Downlands College smashed the longstanding Ekka record by over 100 kilograms to take out top honours at the Royal Queensland Show’s iconic Giant Pumpkin Competition at the Brisbane Showgrounds on Saturday. The secondary school students also set a Queensland record with its ginormous 368.5-kilogram entry which beat the Ekka record for heaviest pumpkin of 261.5kg set back in 2015.

75th Wodonga Show, 16 March 2024

It will be a traditional family affordable show for all with free entry for all kids 17 and under plus lots of free activities such as jumping castles, animal nursery, circus, horse and carriage rides and a sheep shearing and black smith display plus the horse riding events and the CWA will also be making a return. Adults entry fee will be $10.

Yass Show, 16 March 2024

The 2024 Yass Show will be held on 16 March 2024. It will be a one day traditional agricultural show, with two days of Showjumping. Spectator entry to Sunday showjumping is free. The theme for this year’s show is agriculture and showcasing the local region.

Bream Creek Show, 16 March 2024

On the back of holding a record-breaking event in 2023, on Saturday 16 March the community of Bream Creek are set to put on one of the great signature events of the region! With over 70 attractions, performances and exhibits, plus over 40 food and drink stalls including local produce, cheese, wine, spirits and more, The Bream Creek Show volunteer committee has worked hard to create what promises to be a truly wonderful day out.

Bombala Show, 16 March 2024

Our 2024 Bombala Show is all about Agriculture! On behalf of our amazing and hard working Bombala Exhibition Society committee and volunteers, I’d like to warmly invite you to join as at Bombala Show ground on Saturday, March 16, to celebrate all things agricultural. Our official show opening will this year take place at 11am on Saturday, with Member for Monaro Steve Whan opening the show, along with our 2024 Bombala Citizen of the Year, Dianne Ingram.

147th Walcha Show, 8-9 March 2024

The Walcha Show will be officially opened at 6.30pm Friday 8 March by Jason Strong, who was a Walcha ‘boy’ and until recently the CEO of Meat & Livestock Australia. Jason will be around on Friday to help with the junior judging and Saturday to award some of the livestock prizes, judge a few classes and generally enjoy our Show.

Camels on the Darling Downs?

The success of the Scenic Rim’s Summer Land Camels at the Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Show might be encouragement for some farmers on the Downs to start thinking about adding a few camels to their livestock herd. The Champions of the 2024 Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Show have been just announced with Queensland’s Summer Land Camels taking home Gold for the Camel Milk, Silver for the Camel Milk Persian Feta, and Bronze for Camel Milk Powder.

128th Tallangatta Show, 8-9 March 2024

The Tallangatta Agricultural & Pastoral Society Inc welcomes you to the 128th Annual Tallangatta Show! Tallangatta show is family fun time, with free entertainment for the children, and free entry for children accompanied by an adult. The girl guides will have lots of fun games throughout the day all free!
